Participatory Curriculum Development

This fee is for a customized course for ten or fewer participants. For additional participants, the fee is USD 2500 ​per participant.

Participants: School and university teachers, educators and trainers who are involved in design and development of education and training curricula.

Course Brief:
This course focuses on how to improve the curriculum development process by highlighting the importance of participation of various education and training stakeholders.

Through this course the participants will gain insights into how the various inputs and experience of stakeholders will be used to improve the curriculum quality. The course will also deal with the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum.

Tentative Course Contents:

  • Participatory Curriculum Development Concepts and Principles
    Overview on the curriculum development process; concept and principles of participation; the PCD cycle and process; impact of participatory approach on curriculum quality.
  • Stakeholder Analysis and Participation
    Stakeholder analysis and selection; developing guidelines for stakeholder participation in PCD; stakeholder roles and responsibilities.
  • Curriculum Framework Development
    Training needs analysis; review of existing curriculum; setting learning objectives and determining contents; assigning tasks to selected stakeholders for development of curriculum outlines and details.
  • Curriculum Implementation
    Selection of participants for pilot testing of curriculum; pilot testing and observation; curriculum revision; application of PCD in various education and training environments.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    Developing a PCD monitoring and evaluation system; evaluation and improvement of PCD process; conducting a PCD workshop.
  • Study Visits
    Study visits to relevant education and training institutions implementing the PCD process.
