Monitoring and Evaluation of Rural Infrastructure Development Project

Participants: Middle level development planners, senior/mid level civil engineers, administrators, project managers/evaluators, socio-economists, and NGO and social workers.

Course Brief: This course aims to improve participants’ technical knowledge and skills in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems for rural infrastructure projects such as rural road, water resources and agricultural development projects. The course covers principles and concepts of project monitoring and evaluation, result-based approach in project/program evaluation, indicators and measurement tools and techniques for evaluation, development of monitoring and evaluation framework and target, priority setting.

The course includes case studies and study visit to various types and scales of rural infrastructure projects such as rural road development, small scale irrigation development project and rural water supply project. Participants are to take field notes regarding project development and management for group discussions.
