Course Brief: This advanced course in supply chain transformation guides participants in exploring and adopting the principles of Supply Chain Management leadership in Asia. It is an applied course in supply chain management (SCM) that focuses on helping participants to immediately apply proven SCM strategy and concepts in their workplaces. The course takes a performance-driven approach to SCM. It helps companies develop capabilities among their staff in specific SC core competencies and drive - not just influence - business performance through their supply chains. Most supply chain managers – and senior executives - still see "greater efficiency" as their principal SCM mission. Certainly, efficiency improvement remains critical for most Asian corporates. But a narrow drive to improve SC efficiency propagates an inward focus on cost control. This course helps firms embrace a performance-driven SC focus that deploys supply chain strategies to drive overall business performance and guides participants in thinking about how to position their supply chains as engines of differentiated market positioning and sales growth.

Content covers the theory and practice of SCM core competencies, including supply chain dynamics and economics; mastering, balancing, and optimizing the Five Vs of supply chain performance (volume, velocity, variety, volatility, and value); shortening the supply chain, demand management and supply/demand matching, inter-company SC collaboration, responsive SC design strategies and operating models, jointly defined SC KPIs, leveraging 3rd parties to develop and distribute new products quickly, making customers, employees, and competitors an integral part of the SC change and improvement process; value-finance-SC linkages; and Internet strategies to achieve SC advantage.
