MDR is an impact-driven management strategy that uses performance information and practical management tools from strategic planning, risk management, progress monitoring, and outcome evaluation, to improve project decision making, steer development processes toward clearly defined goals, and increase program effectiveness and impact. It seeks to answer the critical development question, How will we know we have succeeded?

The course is an advanced, case-led operational practicum that builds on the foundation laid by the above course offerings. It increases understanding of the ideas behind MDR, provides the opportunity to observe MDR in action, and shows how to apply MDR in country-led and international development projects at all levels and within a variety of interventions (national, sector, program, project and organization).
