Course Brief: Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is a key factor in alleviating poverty. This advanced course in SME development is designed to help countries, provinces, and local municipalities spark sustainable growth in SMEs.

The course explores four broad themes: improving the business environment, improving SME access to finance, improving SME access to markets, business skills, and information, and creating new opportunities through innovation. The course introduces Targeted Product Innovation, and other strategies appropriate to SMEs, for crafting and testing new products and services, and then transferring those innovations to those who can deliver solutions to underserved SMEs. The course also explores the critical strategy of linkage programs to develop SMEs.
