Advanced White Shrimp Farming
“Advanced White Shrimp Farming” is a 6 days training course, which has been designed to address the lack of know-how and meet the requirements of sustainable farming in the Asia-Pacific region. The course will deliver the state of the art of farming practices, existing management options, good practices, sustainability in farming and new innovations like bio-floc systems in white shrimp farming. The course content, which includes several technical and field visit sessions is grouped into 2 distinct modules, as stated below:
Module 1: Advanced White Shrimp Farming
- Water Quality Management
- Shrimp Nutrition and Feed Management
- Pond Bottom/Soil Management and Probiotics
- Shrimp Health Management
- Profitability and Sustainability
Module 2: Bio-floc Systems in White Shrimp Farming
- Principles of Bio-floc Systems (BFS)
- Constructing Ponds
- Starting the Pond, Inoculation, Feed Application
- ABC of BFS Design and Management
- Use of Bio-floc Technology in extensive and semi intensive systems
- Sustainability of BFS
- Review of Practical Experiences World Wide
- Economical Analysis
- Final Discussion
Each of the modules will be accompanied with a field trip to a respective farm or research station/laboratory of academic institute. Given that participants will be interested in either the farming aspects or bio-floc technology or both, the second module will therefore, immediately follow the first.
When is the Course (Duration and Date)?
- Module 1 = 10 - 11 December 2012
- Module 2 = 13 - 15 December 2012
- Field Trip = 12 December 2012
As indicated earlier, the duration of the entire training course is 6 Days. Module 1 will have 2 days of technical sessions. Module 2 will have 3 days of technical sessions. The field trip on the 12th December will be common to both modules. Those opting for the second module can arrive earlier to attend the field trip.
Where (Training Venue)?
The training will be held at a selected hotel in the business center of Bangkok, Thailand - http://www.ait.ac.th
The technical sessions will be delivered at the hotel while field will be arranged in and around Bangkok.

The course will be offered for a wide audience including shrimp farmers, aqua culturists, fisheries officers, coastal zone managers, researchers, academicians, NGO and development workers, business entrepreneurs, and anybody interested in white shrimp farming.
Who are the Trainers?
The course will be taught by internationally renowned academicians (from AIT and Kasetsart University - Thailand, experts from Israel and Malaysia), shrimp farming experts, professional trainers and practitioners.

- Module 1 – USD 750
- Module 2 – USD 900
- Module 1 & 2 – USD 1500
Register before 15th October 2012 to avail of the fees stated above.
Registration after 15th Oct until 25th Nov, 2012 will incur an extra charge of USD 100 per module.
Course fee covers course materials, field trip, working lunch and two coffee breaks per day. It does not cover accommodation, airfare or international travel, insurance or any other cost. Participants will have to bear all those cost.

Please download the above Application Form, and send the completed Application Form by e-mail, fax or post to any of our course coordinators. Whiling filling out the form, please specify which module you are interested to join. Notice of acceptance will be sent to applicants within 7 days of receipt of application.
Once the application is accepted a Confirmation of Funding Form will be sent along with the acceptance. The participants have to fill that out and send back along with their passport detail.
