Course Brief: Very often land is managed for multiple benefits that extend not only from agricultural production to biodiversity protection but also maintaining water quality and even human health. To ensure long-term sustainable benefits land managers must need to consider economic, social and environmental factors, and thus the course aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and awareness in such arena. 

The course will give an overview on managing land without damaging ecological processes, which requires the maintenance of the key components of the environment: biodiversity, ecological integrity and natural capital. The course also has its focus on various elements of land management, strategies, practical skills, extension methods and techniques require for Sustainable Land Management. As part of the course study visits will be to sustainable land management projects, community learning centers, and recognized sustainable land management models. Participants will be required to prepare and present action plans for sustainable land management programs.
