Optimizing Elementary Teaching Through Student-Centered Methodologies and ICT: Hosted for DSD, Pakistan

The Education and Training Development Unit at AIT Extension hosted a two-week personalized professional development program on “Optimizing Elementary Teaching Through Student-centered Methodologies and ICT” for the Directorate of Staff Development (DSD), Punjab, Pakistan. 25 elementary school teachers nominated by DSD from various schools of Punjab attended the program in Bangkok, Thailand (5 – 16 March, 2012).

The program was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the educators in the areas of student-centered methodology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). After the training program it was expected that the participants would be able to develop student-centered curriculum and lesson plans, leadership competencies for positive change in their respective organization and develop low cost teaching and learning materials. The program incorporated seminars, interactive discussion, presentations, reflection activities with project work and exposure visits to private and public primary schools in Thailand.
