Professional Training Program on Overseas Training on Contract and Procurement Management, 1st -12th February 2016

This two weeks customized training program on Contract and Procurement Management is prepared for the FAO professionals in Afghanistan. The course is designed to meet the requirement of the client. The requirement of the client is based on the assessment of organizational needs.

AIT Extension submitted a proposal on the subject training and AIT Extension was selected on an open bid based on the technical and financial proposal for this program.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Afghanistan

The mandate of FAO in Afghanistan is to support agricultural and environmental rehabilitation and assist the country to become a food secure and self-reliant nation in accordance with the principles of the National Development Framework of the Afghan Government.

  • the development agenda belongs to the people of Afghanistan
  • the private sector is the principal instrument of economic growth
  • decision making is participatory and community-based
  • investment in human capital is essential
  • donor-funded activities must sit within the sector framework

The objective of the Organization is to improve livelihoods for all sections of the rural community based upon economically viable activities – food production, off-farm employment and trade - social cohesion and sustainable use of natural resources.

 

OBJECTIVE:

At the end of this training the participants should be able to:

  • comprehend the importance of strategic procurement  for a project
  • develop a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the requirements for successful contract management.
  • build and deliver a detail Strategic Procurement Framework
  • identify the risk in certain contracts and take proactive measures to mitigate those risks
  • apply best practices tools, techniques and methodologies in their respective work environments.

The training program will be held during 1-12 February 2016. (excluding travel time) at AIT Campus.

PARTICIPANTS: Candidates for the program will be selected based on a client-driven needs assessment, which will also determine appropriate curriculum, course content and delivery mechanism.  There will be 11 participants drawn from irrigation project of FAO and from the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW), Afghanistan.
