Training of Trainers

Participants: Trainers, training managers and officers, HRD personnel from government agencies, private companies and NGOs.

Course Brief:
This course aims to enhance one’s training capabilities by providing substantial opportunities for participants to practice various skills necessary for effective training delivery.

Through participatory training approaches and techniques, this intensive course covers the solid foundations of the training process namely: needs assessment, training design, session planning and delivery, and training evaluation. Participants are engaged in workshops and hands-on activities on training design and delivery. Study visits to training centers are arranged to expose participants to best practices in training management and delivery.

Tentative Course Contents:

  • Fundamental Knowledge for a Trainer
    Overview of the training process; roles and responsibilities of a trainer; competencies needed to be an effective trainer; adult learning principles and implications for training.
  • Planning a Training Course
    Aligning training interventions to organizational goals; training needs assessment and analysis; determining and writing training objectives; developing training frameworks; planning and organizing the training logistics; training evaluation.
  • Delivery and Management of Training Activities
    Managing the learning environment; learner-centered training methods and techniques; selecting appropriate training methods and techniques; effective presentation and facilitation skills; selecting and using appropriate training media; application of information technology in training delivery.
  • Hands-on on Training Delivery 
    This is a hands-on practice on delivery of a mini-training session to be done by the participants towards the end of the course. Each participant will plan and develop the activities for the mini-session applying the learning they have gained from the training course.
  • Study Visit to Training Centers
    Study visit to training centers of government, private and non-government agencies to discuss the training programs being offered and best practices in planning, delivery and management of training programs.
