Today’s global supply chains are highly multifaceted with characteristics such as product and process complexity, heterogeneity, and uncertainty. The introduction of disruptive technologies under I4.0 has further transformed global supply chains. Since supply chain management is the management of upstream and downstream relationships with customers and suppliers logistics professionals require a broad knowledge and know-how to manage interrelated functions of logistics and supply chain systems. Recognizing managers as the critical dimension in supply chain management experts argue that selecting the right people for pivotal supply chain responsibilities is essential to realize supply chain objectives. This presentation highlights the relevant skills and competencies and their relative importance that supply chain/logistics professionals require.

Presenter: Professor Shams Rahman

Shams Rahman is a Professor of supply chain management at RMIT University, Australia, who, in 2021 and 2022 has been recognised among the world’s top 2% scholars. Shams is dedicated to interdisciplinary research and education, and integrated approaches to defining and unravelling supply chain challenges and societal concerns. His research areas include supply chain sustainability, disruptive technology, and talent management. Walking barefoot along the beach and watching the rain through the windows, are his hobbies.
