Mr. Syed Muntasir Husain Bokhari, known by his nick name Nabeel, is currently working as a Senior Program Officer at AIT Extension, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). He is also pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree at the School of Management, AIT. His main areas of interests are employee innovation, emotional intelligence, work relationships, and open innovation. Mr. Bokhari completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science from AIT and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science as well from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
Mr. Bokhari is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP ® Number: 2274328) from Project Management Institute (PMI) as well as member of PMI, Thailand chapter. He is an Associate Member at the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Besides, he has participated in several professional development face to face and online trainings, such as, Introduction to SAP ERP course jointly offered by SAP and AIT, Blue Ocean Practical Introduction from Blue Ocean Academy, to name a few, in countries such as Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand. Based on his educational background, professional experience and specialized certification, Mr. Bokhari is a regular trainer at AIT Extension on the topics such as website design, development, deployment, and maintenance; database design, management, and maintenance; project management; office management skills; essential management skills; leadership; communication; human resource management software, etc.
As a Senior Program Officer of AIT Extension, promoted from Program Officer, he communicates, prepares necessary documents and agreements with current and potential clients. He is also actively involved in design, develop, implement, and evaluate professional development courses on numerous topics on information technology, engineering, finance and accounting, administration, human resources, leadership, innovation, etc. This includes preparing budget and monitor financial disbursements, communicating with resource persons, preparing session schedules, overseeing logistics arrangements, arranging study visits, coordinating day-to-day operations, and preparing and submitting reports to the AITE database as well as to the client/donor based on their requirements. Time to time, he also participates in day to day and long term strategy development.
To highlight a few achievements at AIT Extension, firstly, till now he has coordinated 64 training engagements resulting in 833 professionals coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, trained across several countries, such as Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. Second, he was an important team member responsible for coordinating training, preparing comprehensive individual training reports and the final report of one of the major projects at AIT Extension known as Power Sector Capacity Development Project (PSCDP), funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). There were total 29 training courses arranged for 403 government officials from the power sector of Bangladesh. Third, as a certified PMP, he trained 100 power sector project engineers as one of the main resource persons, under a capacity development project on Institutional Strengthening of PGCB project.
Mr. Bokhari also worked on different Content Management Systems (CMS), such as Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, and Plone. Recently Mr. Bokhari has worked on several projects with UN agencies, international organizations and institutions on developing websites and web based database management systems using Drupal CMS, where the framework is based on PHP and MySQL.
Prior to joining AIT Extension, Mr. Bokhari worked as a Program Officer at the Fundraising office, AIT central administration, where he developed and managed departmental website and online database management systems to store and display information. In addition, he also had teaching experience in two well-known private universities in Bangladesh, Namely North South University (NSU), Bangladesh and Eastern University, Bangladesh. Mr. Bokhari served as IT Consultants in private organizations before and after obtaining his master’s degree. He led the marketing team of UPS and IPS department as well as provided technical consultancy to improve day to day operations. Furthermore, he also worked as website sub-administrator at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), where the main responsibility was to provide assistance to the website administration by adding, updating and creating new webpage templates. He was also tasked to convert and update the library database management system of articles. Besides, he also had experience as a student assistant working at the alumni relations office of AIT, where he assisted the alumni relation officer to manage and update the AIT alumni database.
Mr. Bokhari has obtained technical skills during his education and over 15 years of professional experience. He has worked developing and maintaining sites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML. During his bachelor’s degree, as his final project, he developed a program using Visual basic programming language and MS Access to extract data from a given website, calculate the average and display the information through a webpage. He has worked extensively on C++ and Java programming languages during his master’s degree, which was his main focus of research. The main purpose of the study was to develop an education resources that helps in teaching and learning one of the key features of object-oriented programming, polymorphism mechanism in Java and C++. Moreover, he has professional experience and knowledge on server side scripting languages such as PHP and ASP. He has also examined websites using the WAMP web development environment. Other known tools are SEO, SMO, Google maps, Google Analytics, Google Analytics report, keyword Search Google, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Macromedia Flash MX, Microsoft Visual Interdev, Internet Information Services (IIS), Microsoft SharePoint portal, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Crystal report.
Travelling, watching movies, experiencing varieties of cuisine are his hobbies. Challenged to be proactive, self-confident, independent, team spirited, and motivated by the traits of servant-leadership. Proven ability to work well on own initiative and as a part of a team; coordinating and linking with internal and external interest groups. Over the period of time, he has developed excellent interpersonal skills including listening, sharing ideas, and being self-reflective, flexible, self – motivating, and can work to meet tight deadlines.
