AIT Extension Opens Representative Office in Kathmandu, Nepal

AIT Extension has opened its new Representative Office in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Nepal Representative Office will contribute to AIT Extension’s expanding professional education services in Nepal. 

The recent agreement between AIT and Foundation for Development Management (FDM) has enabled AIT Extension to set up the AITE Representative Office on the premises of FDM in Kathmandu. This initiative signals AIT Extension’s willingness to expand its regional presence, and reach and assist more organizations around the region. 

The Representative Office which is located at JDA Complex (Level II), Bagh Durbar, Kathmandu is managed by Dr. Shailendra Sigdel, former Senior Program Specialist with AIT Extension. Dr. Sigdel was appointed AIT Extension Country Representative for Nepal in November 2008. 


Learn the art of Contract Administration, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at AIT

By popular demand AIT Extension is over again contemplating to run the international professional course on “Contract Administration, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution” from 12 – 23 July, 2010.

The course familiarizes participants with general principles of international arbitration and alternative methods of dispute resolution (ADR). It examines the legal issues involved in international commercial arbitration and introduces the goals and techniques of mediation. The emphasis throughout is on the development of practical skills.

14th Fredskorpset (FK Norway) Preparatory Course (South-South Exchange) is going to be held at AIT

AIT Extension (AITE) in partnership with Fredskorpset Norway (FK Norway) is organizing a 14th Fredskorpset Preparatory Course (South –South Exchange) at AIT (22 March – 10 April, 2010). 28 participants from 13 different countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, P.R. China, India, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam) are attending the program. AITE has successfully conducted ten (10) similar FK Preparatory Courses during the year 2003 – 2009.


AIT Extension in conjuction with UNICEF is hosting a Series of Short Courses to Support Public Sector Capacity Building Program for Iraqi Government

105 Iraqi government officials are expected to participate in AIT Extension’s short courses

AIT Extension is preparing to implement eight (8) customized training programs for personnel of the General Directorate of Human Resources (GDHR) under the Ministry of Municipalities & Public Works (MMPW), Iraq. GDHR has a huge responsibilty on personnel welfare and human resource development of Iraq. It is expected that these training programs at AIT will support MMPW’s staff to manage fifteen (15) training centers and enhance the skills of training managers/coordinators on effectiveness of training functions at their centers. Thus, the training sessions and activities at AIT aims to develop well qualified trainers, having exposure to high standard training curriculum and best practices in training and development.


AIT Extension is hosting a training program for engineers and project staff of Rural Reconstruction Project of the Ministry of Local Development, Nepal

AIT Extension is organizing a 10-day training program on “Environmental and Social Safeguards” from 22 to 30 March 2010 for engineers and project staff of the Rural Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Sector Development Program (RRRSDP), Nepal. This project is carried out by Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads, Ministry of Local Development, Government of Nepal.


AIT Extension hosted a Professional Certificate Course in Management Consulting Essentials (CMCE)

AIT Extension, in conjunction with Consultancy and Development International, UK successfully hosted a third round of Professional Certificate Course in Management Consulting Essentials (22-25 Feb, 2010). The course was directed by Mr. Tony Lavender, who has decades of experience in providing consultancy and training in UK and abroad.17 participants from Indonesia, Brunei, Italy, Vietnam, Nepal, Afghanistan and Thailand had attended the program. CMCE course is valuable to those management consultants, who are willing to deliver superior value to their clients, and also for those who are considering becoming a management consultant. Eight senior government officials from Nepal participate in AIT Extension's course

Monitoring and Evaluation of Post-Conflict Recovery ProgramsAIT Extension’s Public Sector Capacity Building Program, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction (MoPR), government of Nepal and the Human Development Forum Foundation (HDFF) is organizing a 10-day training program on "Monitoring and Evaluation of Post-Conflict Recovery Programs" from 22 February to 5 March 2010. The course is the second capacity building initiative that MoPR requested AIT Extension to conduct after the first course on Conflict Resolution and Peace Building conducted in August 2009. Eight senior government officials from MoPR are participating in this course. The main focus of this short course is on monitoring and evaluation techniques and tools MoPR would develop and use for evaluating outcomes of post-conflict recovery programs being carried in Nepal. Also the course emphasizes on participants’ skills to apply logical framework and measurement indicators to measure results at the field level.

AIT Extension is hosting a professional capacity building course on "Planning, Estimating and Management of Storm Water"

Planning, Estimating and Management of Storm Water The Public Sector Capacity Building Unit under AIT Extension is organizing a 10-day short course on Planning, Estimating and Management of Storm Water (15 - 24 February 2010). This training program aims to support the capacity building initiative of Lunawa Environment Improvement and Community Development Project (LEI&CDP), Government of Sri Lanka. The project received its financial assistance from the Government of Japan. Participants comprised engineers and senior government officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development, Sri Lanka; Land Reclamation and Development Cooperation (SLLRDC); and Dehiwala Mt’ Lavinia Municipal Council (DMMC). The main purpose of this short course is to enrich knowledge of the engineers and project staff on cutting-edge approaches in construction management and administration as well as on technical aspects of public infrastructure development projects.


AIT Extension hosted a 5th Regional Exposure Visit Program to 43 Bangladeshi Government Officials

Public Administration Reform, Performance Management and Service DeliveryAIT Extension, in conjunction with the Department for International Development (DFID) and Ministry of Establishment, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is very proud to have hosted a 43-member delegation of senior officials from Bangladesh for a specialized 2 weeks program on "Public Administration Reform, Performance Management and Service Delivery" (25 Jan – 5 Feb, 2010). This Regional Exposure Visit (REV) followed the completion of 5th similar REV programs developed for the Bangladeshi Senior Civil Administrators under the program called Managing At The Top 2 (MATT2). We are confident that this training will provide substantive benefits to the clients of these Civil Administrators.
