Participants: Education managers and specialists involved in ICT committees in schools and universities, managers and officers of ICT centers in education and training institutions, other staff involved in providing ICT support in education institutions.

Course Brief:
This course aims to upgrade knowledge and enhance skills in integration of ICT into education institutions’ academic, management and administrative activities. The course contents highlight the importance of improving ICT curriculum in education institutions; appropriate ICT framework and infrastructure to support the teaching/learning process; and application of ICT in the management and administrative functions of education institutions.

Tentative Course Contents:

  • IT Infrastructure for Education Institutions
    Essential IT infrastructure for educational applications;  creating an enabling environment for IT users; EMIS development; constraints on using IT in the education institutions; training of teachers and technology users.
  • Integration of ICT in the Academic Curriculum
    Critical issues in integrating IT subjects in the curriculum; foundation subjects on ICT; required IT competencies for students; meeting content area standards; social, ethical, and human issues related to technology.
  • ICT in Teaching/Learning, Research and Other Academic Disciplines
    Application of ICT in teaching/learning; technology for science, mathematics, language  and arts instruction; use of computer-based multimedia learning materials; internet sources for teaching, learning and research; uses of problem-solving and decision-making tools.
  • E-learning Application for Academic Institutions
    E-learning fundamentals; e-learning models and tools; e-learning as an instructional support; trends and issues on e-learning.
  • Study Visits
    Study visits to relevant education organizations and agencies involved in research and development on IT applications in learning and visits to IT academic institutes and universities with excellent systems of integrating IT into the learning process.
