Information Technology and Engineering Unit, AIT Extension in conjunction with UN HABITAT, Afghanistan is hosting a one week study visit cum training course on “Water Supply, Infrastructure and Social Development” at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. 10 mid-level officials from UN HABITAT are expected to attend this professional development program.
The course aims to provide a hands-on approach to Water Supply, Infrastructure and Social Development issues which are an integral process of community development. Exploring the use of current standards and practices the course will endow the participants to make immediate use of the module upon return to their home country. It is expected that the participants will be able to develop through the observation and interaction of best practices in the infrastructure projects encompassing water supply, solid waste management, sanitation, roads and bridges. The course has emphasized the importance of community participation in the infrastructure development.
