Course Introduction
This course introduces participants to sustainable and smart shrimp farming systems, covering the complete production cycle from pond preparation and production management to aquatic animal health, biosecurity, and climate-resilient farming practices. Through a combination of expert-led lectures, hands-on practical training, and technical visits to commercial shrimp farms and research facilities in Thailand, participants will gain practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills to improve productivity, strengthen biosecurity, and implement sustainable and smart aquaculture practices.
This program covers:
1. Global and regional trends in shrimp aquaculture
2. Sustainable aquaculture and nature-based solutions (NbS) in shrimp farming
3. Pond design, pond preparation, feeding, and water management practices
4. Biosecurity and health management strategies
5. Disease prevention, risk management, and early warning systems
6. Application of smart technologies and automation tools in shrimp farming
7. Waste management and nutrient recycling techniques
8. Climate-resilient and Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) Systems
9. Market access, traceability, and certification standards (ASC, BAP)
10. Economic and investment perspectives in smart aquaculture
11. Field exposure to model shrimp farms and technology demonstrations
12. Group Action Plan (GAP): participants develop and present farm-level action plans for peer review and discussion
