Workshop on Information and Communications Management for Agricultural Innovation in Southeast Asia

AIT, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); and Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), hosted a three-day workshop on Information and Communications Management for Agricultural Innovation in Southeast Asia (27 – 29 September, 2011) at the AIT campus, Bangkok, Thailand.

22 participants representing Southeast Asian countries and 15 representatives from APAARI, FAO, and GFAR attended the workshop. The activity aimed to contribute towards bridging the knowledge gap towards the transformation of Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) systems, as described in the Global Conferences on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD) Roadmap. To this end, APAARI is organizing a series of sub-regional workshops with the objective of improving partnerships among National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) so as to strengthen capacities and skills of personnel to promote greater sharing of knowledge on agricultural innovations. The workshop was intended for the information and communication managers of NARS in the Southeast Asian sub-region. One of the major objectives of this workshop was to consider new dimensions in Information and Communications Management (ICM) for contributing to ever changing agricultural innovation in market and export oriented agriculture that is rapidly emerging in Southeast Asia.
