Honorable Abhisit Vejjajiva, the 27th Prime Minister of Thailand and the current leader of the Democrat Party as well as the Leader of the Opposition, delivered a speech at the plenary session of GIZ’s Sector Network Governance Asia General Meeting 2012 on the topic “Changing Asia – Changing Governance: Governance Academy” at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on 25 April 2012.
During his address the former Prime Minister highlighted the importance of learning from each other’s experiences. He then shared his experience about ASEAN and its significance on connectivity (access to roads), governance and government, meeting the growing demands on infrastructure, management of urban growth, issues on environmental protection and harmonization of rules and regulations to enable trade.
Governance Asia initiative of GIZ is a regional professional network that enables GIZ experts to share information and experience in the field of governance and democracy. It covers partner countries in South Asia, Southeast and East Asia. This sector network aims at assuring and improving the effectiveness and quality of GIZ’s cooperation in Asia. The conference which was organized in partnership with AIT Extension, Asian Institute of Technology was attended by more than 120 GIZ staff / experts working all across Asia.
