Public Sector Capacity Building Unit, AIT Extension in close collaboration with Center for Participatory Irrigation Management (CPIM), Vietnam has successfully conducted a ten-day international exposure visit program on “Leadership, Good Governance and Decentralization” in Thailand and Vietnam (24 Jun - 01 Jul, 2012). The program was particularly designed for the political leaders of Uva Province, Sri Lanka. A group of 17 Council Members from Uva Provincial Council, Uva Province, Sri Lanka attended the program in Bangkok, Thailand and Hanoi, Vietnam.
The program focused on specific areas such as: competences for provincial governance for effective decentralization, strengthening social cohesion, managing socio economic developments and delivering better public services. The program exposed the political leaders both in Thailand and Vietnam on how to develop workable mechanisms and policies through public consultations and collaborative management to deliver the mandated service delivery. The program was designed based on the concept “learning and working together”.
