The customized course on Power System Simulation for Engineers (PSS/E Software) aims at introducing the power system planning and analysis tools for the electric power industry to address escalating complexity in modern transmission network systems. PSS/E Software allows users to perform a wide variety of analysis functions, including power flow, dynamics, short circuit, contingency analysis, optimal power flow, voltage stability, transient stability simulation, and much more.
This is the second of the twenty two professional training courses of the project of Institutional Strengthening of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Project, funded by the World Bank.
OBJECTIVES: The course aims at enhancing the skills of the participants on power system dynamic voltage control and reactive power management using the application software PSS/E. At the end of the course, it is expected that the participants will have:
- understood the concepts on transient and small signal analysis of power system
- appreciated the concepts of reactive power and voltage control;
- gained insights into modeling FACTS devices in power flow;
- developed understanding Power Voltage (PV) and Reactive Power Voltage (QV) analysis;
- sharpened their knowledge on dynamic simulation;
- broadened their understanding on power flow calculation
TIMING: The training course will be held during 5th – 16th October 2018 (excluding travel time)
Venue: Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
